Brand Communication Strategy - Kübler Absinthe

Repeal of Absinthe Ban

● Absinthe was first banned in Switzerland in 1910, the United States in 1912, and France in 1914 - primarily on the backs of propaganda stating that Absinthe can cause one to go mad - and in hopes of defending the French wine industry during the French wine blight. ● Yves Kübler personally fought for the repeal of the ban of Absinthe in both Switzerland, and in the United States. Switzerland first repealing in 2005, and then working with a legal team based in Texas on the repeal in the United States, in 2007. Kübler Absinthe would have been the first Absinthe made available in the US market, however labeling challenges held up its release with the US based TTB. ● France finally repealed the Absinthe ban in May 2011.
