USA | Oregon | Domaine Drouhin Oregon

A s early as 1961, Robert Drouhin had a strong belief that he had a role to play in Oregon. In 1987, his dream came true: Domaine Drouhin Oregon (DDO) was born with the motto “French Soul, Oregon Soil.” Robert Drouhin, along with his daughter Véronique Drouhin, who had just graduated in oenology, decided to purchase land in the Dundee hills, in the Willamette Valley. In 1989, a four-level gravity-flow winery emerged from the ground on top of the hill. Located between 400’ and 800’ in elevation, the site was selected for its remarkable similarity in climate, latitude and aspect to the legendary vineyards of Burgundy. Domaine Drouhin now encompasses 130 acres (52.6 hectares) of hillside vineyards. Interspersed with the Pinot Noir vines are 13 acres (5.26 hectares) of Chardonnay, planted at various elevations, and certified sustainable by L.I.V.E. Every DDO vintage since 1988 has been handcrafted by Véronique Drouhin, who adapts the Burgundy family winemaking techniques.
