GIN
424 EXPORTS JAPAN, KAGOSHIMA The only craft gin in the world that is made in a wooden pot still. Several types of sweet potato shochu are blended for a harmonious balance with juniper berries. 424 Export Gin Triple Distilled 94PF / 750ML Distilled from rice and sweet potato, this is different from any other gin you’ll try. Expect a sweet anise aroma and a robust, almost waxy texture with nuanced caraway and fennel flavors. It finishes with an intriguing tropical note that suggests lychee, pink peppercorn and juicy raspberry. 93pts Wine Enthusiast ADA LOVELACE (GWS) USA, CALIFORNIA Inspired by the Coppola family tradition of pre-dinner cocktails, this collection honors remarkable female trailblazers. Each spirit is meticulously crafted to reflect the individual character of the women they celebrate, then proofed with pristine water sourced directly from the family’s Napa Valley estate. It is a unique fusion of cinematic legacy and artisanal precision. Great Women Spirits Ada Lovelace Gin 80PF / 750ML A California take on an English tradition. Steeped in the tradition of Ada Lovelace’s England, out gin honors the botanical bill of a London dry. It was created with a dry martini in mind, incorporating both Old and New World botanicals and distillation techniques that produce a uniquely styled Californian gin. ARBIKIE DISTILLERY SCOTLAND Arbikie Distillery is the first single-site, field to bottle distillery in Scotland to produce both white and brown spirits using traditional Scotch distilling methods and equipment. Arbikie AK’s Gin 86PF / 750ML This gin is a tribute to Alexander Kirkwood Stirling (aka AK), the father of founders Iain, John, and David. Created entirely on the Arbikie estate using their wheat, water, and honey from the land’s own bees. Distilled in copper stills and bottled in the distillery. They’ve weaved in botanicals to give it earthy and spicy hints and honey to add a subtle smoothness. Arbikie Kirsty’s Gin 86PF / 750ML Arbikie’s Master Distiller, Kirsty Black, carefully chose the botanicals of seaweed, Carline Thistle, and Blueberries to capture the elements of sea, rock and land that influence our distillery. Unlike many other spirits, Kirsty’s Gin base spirit is distilled on the Arbikie estate, allowing the distillery to specifically tailor it to complement the gin’s botanical flavors. Arbikie Nadar Gin 86PF / 200ML / 750ML The future of spirits is here. Nàdar is a revolutionary pea based gin that is officially climate-positive, removing 1.54 kg of $CO_2e$ from the atmosphere with every bottle. Bridging the gap between nature and science, it offers a world-first solution to biodiversity loss, proving that the finest spirits can also be the most sustainable.
BOOMSMA NETHERLANDS is the most traditional of the Dutch Genever-style gins made from malted barley distillate and a delicate juniper berry infusion. Boomsma Jonge Genever 80PF / 750ML Light and elegant... The palate is what sets this genever apart from the average gin: though the botanicals are delicate and subtle, this is a satisfyingly full-bodied yet incredibly smooth spirit. Its delicate blend of botanicals is best savored on the rocks, though it also makes an excellent Martini or Gin and Tonic. 90pts Excellent/ Highly Recommended, Wine Enthusiast Boomsma Oude Genever 80PF / 750ML A rich, weighty, full-bodied spirit crafted with wheat spirit, malt distillate, and oak barrel aging. While it displays all the juniper notes you could hope for in a genever, it also integrates rich vanilla, apple, and baking spice notes. 94pts Excellent/Highly Recommended, Ultimate Spirits Challenge 2016 Boomsma Oude Genever Artisanal 5yr 80PF / 750ML A rich, weighty, full-bodied spirit crafted with wheat spirit, malt distillate, and oak barrel aging. While it displays all the juniper notes you could hope for in a genever, it also integrates rich vanilla, apple, and baking spice notes. Gin and jenever both contain juniper, as well as botanicals such as coriander, anise and citrus peel, and bittering agents like orris root or angelica. The difference actually lies in the raw material used to make these distilled spirits. For gin, this can be anything–from the malted barley, to grapes or potatoes. For jenever, however, it’s always (and only ever) made from grains such as rye, corn and malted barley. It’s for this reason that many drinks experts describe jenever as the halfway point between gin and whisky. And, just like whisky, jenever can be either unaged (jonge) or aged (oude). Finally, while gin can be made anywhere, jenever can only be produced in Holland or Belgium, and designated parts of France and Germany. GIN & JENEVER... same but different.
