ABSINTHE / ARACK
KUBLER SWITZERLAND Kübler Absinthe is a traditional Swiss style of absinthe, hailing from the birthplace of Absinthe, Val-de-Travers, Switzerland. Currently produced by Yves Kübler, the fourth-generation master distiller – in accordance with original award-winning family recipes dating back to 1863 and 1875, and only utilizing the highest quality wormwood, sourced specifically from the unique terroir of the region. Kubler Absinthe Superieure 106PF / 375ML / 1.0L An original family recipe dating back to 1863, consisting of nine distinct botanicals, macerated, and distilled. “La Bleue” or “Blanche Absinthe”. Kubler Absinthe Verte Suisse 144PF / 375ML An original family recipe dating back to 1879, consisting of three distinct botanicals macerated and distilled, and an additional four botanicals held in secondary maceration.
LEOPOLD BROS. DENVER, COLORADO Leopold Brothers is an award-winning, small-batch distillery in Denver, where Todd and Scott Leopold are bringing old world methods to craft spirits with rich, complex results. Leopold Brothers hand-crafts artisanal products from their state of
the art, fully sustainable eco-distillery. Leopold Bros. Absinthe Verte 130PF / 750ML
Created following the traditions of 19th Century European master distillers, this is a clean, straightforward, and refreshing absinthe: pale straw yellow-green liquid with a wallop of licorice aroma and flavor and medium body. Adding ice water coaxes out more complex lime and cinnamon scents, as well as lemon, orange and anise notes on the finish. “Excellent Absinthe” Wormwood Society Silver Medal International Wine & Spirits Competition MASSAYA LEBANON, BEKAA VALLEY While drawing on the experience of their French partners—Hebrard in Bordeaux and Brunier in Chateauneuf-du-Pape—they are at heart winemakers of Lebanon. Their ancestors and their land are their inspiration. Massaya Arak 100PF / 375ML / 750ML Exceptional! Indigenous Obeidi grapes are fermented for two weeks, then double distilled in traditional Moorish lid copper stills over vine wood embers. On the third distillation, it is macerated with organic green aniseed from the Syrian slopes of Mount Hermon, imparting distinctive aroma and flavor. It is then aged in traditional clay amphorae for two years, lending a subtle color and a notable maturity. Serve with two parts cold water.
The history of absinthe is a cocktail of myth, conjecture and controversy. A turn-of-the-twentieth century favorite of artists and writers, the spirit was banned in the United States in 1912 because it was believed to be hallucinogenic. Just a few years ago, it once again became legal in America to buy the high-alcohol, anise-flavored liquor. The term “absinthe” comes from Artemisia absinthium, the scientific name for its key ingredient, wormwood. Long before distillers discovered it, the herb was used for medicinal purposes. The production of absinthe is much like that of gin: High-proof neutral spirit is infused with a blend of botanicals, including wormwood, and redistilled. Traditionally, the alcohol is infused a second time before bottling to intensify the flavor and create the signature green color. Many modern producers skip this final step and use dyes instead. PEAKRADAR.COM
MUSAR, CHÂTEAU EBANON, BEKAA VALLEY Chateau Musar was the first producer in Lebanon to achieve organic certification for its vineyards in 2006. Most are in the Bekaa Valley, cradled between two mountain ranges running parallel to Lebanon’s Mediterranean coastline.
Musar L’Arack 106PF / 750ML
From the storied Lebanese Château Musar, L’Arack de Musar is made from grape alcohol with an average age of five years. Uniquely distilled four times with the addition of anise seeds during the 4th distillation, followed by one year of aging in terracotta amphora’s which contribute to its liquorice aromas. The 4th distillation results in a pure, sophisticated, easy to drink Arack, with or without water. 4-1/2 Stars Difford’s Guide

AGAVE MEZCAL
DON AMADO MEXICO, OAXACA Eleven generations of continual mezcal distillation with a legendary commitment to craftsmanship and experimentation have culminated in a spirit that is simultaneously complex and approachable. Don Amado is made from earthen-roasted maguey hearts which are, after crushing, fermented together with their piña fibers for a rich maguey character. The mash is then double distilled in small traditional ceramic clay pots. Don Amado Mezcal Rústico 94PF / 375ML / 750ML The flagship expression of the Real de Minas Distillery, Don Amado Rústico is made using the historic method of slowly roasting fully mature Espadín maguey hearts on firewood embers before natural fermentation with airborne yeast and a slow double-distillation in ceramic pot stills. The minero clay-pot still is quite prevalent on the nose with aromatics leaning towards ash, crushed walnuts, roasted corn, and savory spices. A bright, citrus Espadín agave palate is well balanced against notes of An homage to the popular history of Oaxacan clay-pot mezcal aged in brandy barrels, Don Amado Reposado brandy barrels to create a nostalgic flavor of earthen-smoked maguey with the soft caramel and butterscotch notes of American white oak. *Aged varieties are matured in American oak casks previously used for barreling Pedro Domecq brandy. Don Amado Mezcal Añejo* 87PF / 375ML / 750ML caramel, butterscotch, and fresh herbs. Don Amado Mezcal Reposado* 90PF / 750ML
Don Amado Mezcal Largo 92PF / 375ML / 750ML
From ‘karwinskii’ maguey (10-14 years to mature). Soft smoke with candied notes and a creamy mouthfeel layer fruit and a subtle spice on a palette of rich, cooked maguey reminiscent of the high desert just after a heavy rainfall, bright and clean. This mezcal is on the fruitier side with somewhat candied flavor notes, a creamy mouthfeel, and just a hint of spice. Don Amado Mezcal Pechuga 92PF / 375ML / 750ML An autumn ‘harvest bounty’ mezcal, Don Amado Pechuga is a third distillation of our Don Amado Rústico, made with the addition of seasonal fruits, nuts and spices including apricots, wild criollo apples, hard, stubby bananas with clove, cinnamon, raisins, almonds, and walnuts. A treasure of complexity that exhibits rich, bright fruit notes, roasted nuts, dark baking spice, wafting hints of clean smoke, fresh cinnamon, and stone fruits. Don Amado Mezcal Tepeztate 92PF / 375ML / 750ML On the nose, there is candied lime, soft white flowers, with more vegetal notes of bell pepper and cucumber skin along with hints of nuts, soft pastry, and a very lightly charred wood, supported by a back note of minerality. The flavors continue in the same vein, tasting of grilled lemon & lime, sunbaked white flowers, bell peppers, persimmon, squash blossoms, charred oak, and minerals. These flavors are intricately balanced and deliciously perplexing, hinting at matcha tea and persist in a delicate fade that savors grilled fruit nuances. Don Amado Tobala & Bicuishe 92PF / 375ML / 750ML On the nose, there are aromas of summer stonefruit, soft tea rose, and toasted red chiles peppers. The exotic tastes of Earl Grey tea, dried orange peel, candied mango, cinnamon, and faint woodiness lead to a smooth, jammy finish with a lingering hint of black licorice. Don Amado Tripon, Barril, & Bicuishe 92PF / 375ML / 750ML There are alluring aromas of pastry being prepared: wild honey, green apple peel, tart cider, fragrant pear, and white grapes. The palate offers pure, bright sweetness, green herbs, and overripe nectarine, with a medium-length, smooth finish.
A regal take on what many consider to be an essentially rustic distillate, Don Amado Añejo shows amazing complexity beyond simple smoke, and is a great example how barrel flavors can complement rather than mask agave’s wild charms. *Aged varieties are matured in American oak casks previously
used for barreling Pedro Domecq brandy. Don Amado Mezcal Arroqueño 92PF / 750ML
Rustic and refined, Don Amado Arroqueño is made from an enormous maguey species that requires 18 years to mature but is cultivatable, so ecologically sustainable while simultaneously wildly exotic and delicious. Bright floral aromatics of caramelized maguey, leather and soft smoke lend structure to ripe, cooked yam fruit flavors.

Artenom Seleccion de 1123 Blanco 86PF / 375ML / 750ML
This expression recreates a once popular style of high end blanco tequilas, where lower brix, less stressed agave from the nutrient rich Tequila Valley predominated. The top end of these tequilas is barrel-conditioned for 35 to 40 days - just enough to soften the lowland peppery vigor. This Historic tequila is barrel condition for 35 days in Pedro Domecq brandy casks that previously held Don Amado Reposado Mezcal.
ArteNOM Seleccion de 1579 Blanco 81.4PF / 375ML / 750ML

AGAVE TEQUILA
FUENTESECA MEXICO Special Release Tequilas The Fuenteseca Reserva Extra Añejo Tequilas include the oldest bottled tequilas in the history of the tequila business. They exemplify barrel aging mastery by using assorted wood types, storage conditions, altitudes, and microclimates to mature nuanced spirits. These historical selections are made available to us by Enrique Fonseca, who began storing these legendary distillates twenty-five years ago and now periodically releases them when determined to be optimal. The newest edition, Cosecha, is 3-year rested blanco. The Fuenteseca Tequilas are also the first commercially available tequila products authorized by the CRT to carry both an agave-harvest vintage date as well as a barrel aging statement. Fuenteseca Cosecha Blanco 2018 89.6PF / 750ML This 2018 Cosecha bottling is made from over-ripe Highland pinto Blue Weber agave grown at 5,019’ elevation in the rugged, extremely mineral-laden CALICHE soil of Vista Hermosa, Micohoacan, the southernmost region within the D.O. This area’s calcium carbonate suffused, mineral-rich terroir is evident in Tequila Fuenteseca Cosecha 2018’s fantastically- heightened minerality that beautifully accents the pure agave flavors of sweet, cooked yams and warm baking spices. Fuenteseca Tequila Extra Añejo 5yr 82.6PF / 750ML Sixty-Two percent (62%) of this expression’s tequila was column-distilled, then aged in European barrels of the variety Quercus robur (also known as Common Oak or Pedunculate Oak) that were previously used to age wine. 38% of the tequila in this lot was distilled in an Alembic pot still, then aged in French Oak barrels from central Europe. The barrel staves are of delicate wood, previously used to aged Royal Lochnagar Select Reserve Sherry. Each cask fill provides a wide range of different flavor possibilities — one of the reasons why age is not a sole determining factor in quality. Fuenteseca Reserva Añejo 7yr 84PF / 750ML Enrique Fonseca distilled this expression in early Spring of 2010, with three-quarters of the bottling made in a double-copper column still with removed plates to achieve a lower distillation proof, and the remaining quarter made in an alembic pot still. Half of the run was then stored in American white oak previously used to age California red wine, and the remaining half barreled. Fuenteseca Reserva Añejo 8yr 86PF / 750ML Master Distiller Enrique Fonseca distilled this selection in late Spring of 2008, with three-quarters of the expression made in a double-copper column still with plates removed to achieve a lower distillation proof, and the remaining quarter made in an alembic pot still. One-quarter of the distillate was then laid in American white oak previously used to age California red wine, and three-quarters was aged in used dark French oak. The casks were stored for the full 8 years in a damp-climate cellar used in the early 1900s as a water cistern, to slowly settle the spirit in a colder environment with reduced wood interaction.
Fuenteseca Reserva Añejo 11yr 83.4 PF / 750ML
Distilled in late winter of 2006 with two-thirds of the expression made in a double-copper column still with plates removed to achieve a lower distillation proof and the remaining third made in an alembic pot still. One third of this lot was then laid into in American white oak previously used to age California red wine, and the remaining two-thirds was barreled in used dark French oak. The casks were then rested for the full 11 years at 3,800’ elevation in a cool-climate subterranean barrel room, with the upper-most portion of the room opened to allow for soft air circulation to create a drier aging environment. Fuenteseca Reserva Añejo 15yr 86PF / 750ML The highland agave used in this lot were harvested in Atotonilco in the Spring of 1998. The distillate was aged 15 years in a dry, earthen-floor aging room where a delightful faint sweetness was achieved by aging nearly all in American white oak, with only 3% laid into French oak. 75% of the white oak casks previously held Bourbon and the remaining 25% were California red wine casks and one Chardonnay cask. Fuenteseca Reserva Añejo 18yr 87PF / 750ML Produced in September 1995, 75% of this lot was distilled in copper double-column stills and 25% distilled in copper alembic stills. Aging began in Canadian white oak casks previously used to age rye whiskey and stored at 4,600’ for six years. The tequilas were then blended and re-barreled, with half left to rest in Canadian white oak rye casks and half moved to European dark oak barrels previously used to age California red wine. The refilled casks were then moved to a cooler, breezier climate, and left to age for an additional twelve years. Fuenteseca Reserva Añejo 21yr 87PF / 750ML This lot was distilled in copper double-column stills from mostly 1984 plantings harvested in late 1993 and laid into barrel in early 1994. The casks were stored 10 years in a dry, earthen-floor room in Atotonilco el Alto, before being moved to a higher, cooler climate on the slope above the highland town, where they remained for 11 more years. Nearly all the barrels were previously used for aging California white wine, with one barrel having been used for aging Canadian rye whiskey. “ ...the oldest bottled tequilas in the history of the tequila business. They exemplify barrel aging mastery... ”
