BOYD & BLAIR PENNSYLVANIA Potato Vodka

CANNON DISTILLERY USA, SOUTH CAROLINA LOCAL Founded in the heart of the historic Avondale Neighborhood in Charleston, South Carolina. Dynamic duo Lewis Dodson and Jessica Krofta partnered with long time friend Kris Kincaid and set out to open a boutique distillery. They created some truly delicious, original spirits. with hard work and the best, locally sourced ingredients. We present their first line of products! Three vodkas, all of them perfect for any occasion! Chai Noon 65pf #674868 / 750ml / $23.67 Black tea leaves are cold steeped with cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, black peppercorn, ginger and a splash of ginger juice. This delicious tea is then blended with 100% corn vodka and organic sugar. Tasting Notes: Bold but balanced, spiced yet sweet. Scents of Chai tea, cinnamon and clove; ripe ginger coasts the mouth and leaves a hint of pepper. Early Bird 65pf #204165 / 750ml / $23.67 Only three ingredients are used to make Cannon’s Coffee Vodka; Coffee, Vodka and Sugar. The coffee is locally roasted then coarsely ground and immediately cold steeped. It is then blended with organic sugar and 100% corn vodka. The result is a robust, lovely coffee vodka that is perfect for any occasion. Morning, Noon or Night! Tasting Notes: Rich Dark Chocolate nose springs hazelnut and cashew on the tongue with a creamy caramel finish. Grit Vodka 80pf #785641 / 750ml / $27.33 Named “Grit vodka” because the corn used comes from the world renowned Geechie Boy Mill. Located on Edisto Island in the Low Country, Geechie Boy Mill uses an antique stone ground mill to preserve the characteristics of their heirloom corn. They are famous for their grits. Cannon mashes and ferments the corn, then distills it seven times. The result is perfectly simple vodka! Tasting Notes: Residual sweetness on the nose and some caramelization on the tongue, no sugar has been added.

#669124 / 750ml / $24.67 #106262 / 1.0L / $29.99

This is a small batch vodka made in Pennsylvania from locally grown potatoes by two guys using a copper still, a more artisanal method than the column stills typically used for vodka. The result is a softer, creamier style of vodka that is milder on the palate than most. This is vodka made by people who really care about quality and precision, and that’s obvious at first sip. “Entry is nothing short of luscious, semisweet, chewy, and smooth; midpalate adds cocoa bean, maple, and honey. Aftertaste is graceful, solid, and simply delicious. The best small-scale vodka I’ve had... So sumptuous and tasty that it’s spectacular tasted neat. Best non-Polish vodka available. AWESOME ACHIEVEMENT!” —F. Paul Pacult

Professional 151 Vodka #166036 / 750ml / $40.67

Created with both professional bartenders and home mixologists in mind. Like the Boyd & Blair 80 Proof, it is expertly handcrafted in small batches from locally-grown Pennsylvania potatoes, however this release is bottled at 151 proof—the perfect base for creating bitters, liqueurs, aperitifs, classic punches and more. “...pleasing and firmly structured; midpalate is tight as a drum, sweet, nicely oily/viscous, creamy and deep. A new direction for supersized vodka from distillers who know what they are doing.” 5 Stars Highly Recommended, F. Paul Pacult’s Spirit Journal

POTATO VODKA & GRAIN VODKA If it has starch in it, you can make vodka out of it, and the humble potato is no exception. Although most vodka comes from fermented grains like wheat, rye or barley, potato vodka has a rich tradition, particularly in Poland. This potent spirit resembles grain vodka in most respects, but there are a few important differences. The differences between any two grain vodkas are subtle, but vodka lovers can notice them, or at least claim to. The same is true for the differences between grain and

potato vodka; although broadly similar, there are differences in mouthfeel and flavor. Grain vodka is typically “cleaner,” while potato vodkas have a viscous, slightly oily or creamy texture. Potato vodka is often slightly sweet; there are sweet grain vodkas, of course, but sweetness is common among potato vodkas. — WWW.LEAF.TV
