Vermouth / Aromatized Wine

DOLIN FRANCE Vermouth de Chambéry

BYRRH FRANCE Grand Quinquina Aperitif Wine #655260 / 750ml / $18.99

France’s only Appellation d’Origine Vermouth, Dolin is the last remaining producer of Vermouth de Chambéry AOC. Made from fine wine and botanicals found in the Alpine meadows above Chambéry. Imparting a fresh and elegant nose with a subtle, complex palate, Dolin Vermouths are notably lighter, drier and less pungent than their commercial counterparts. “If you’ve always thought vermouths were overpowering, then you’ll appreciate all three Dolins (Rouge, Dry, and Blanc)—they are lighter and more delicate than most.” —The Wall Street Journal Dry

Fortified wine, produced since 1873 in the small French town of Thuir. Byrrh is created by macerating South America Quinquina, coffee, bitter orange, colombo and cocoa in Muscat Mistelles, then matured in oak casks. The fruit-forward wine lends natural sweetness, so no additional sugar is needed, and also provides Byrrh with its refreshing balance of fruit and spice. Byrrh is a bit softer than vermouth with heavy wine flavors and just a mild quinine flavor to add bitterness. Traditionally served as an aperitif, chilled with a slice of lemon. 18% ABV. 5+ Stars Difford’s Guide
