One of the three fastest flowing in Japan, the Kuma River is renowned for its superior water quality. Thirty percent of their rice is grown in their own fields. This gohyakumanishi (5 million stones) rice, is grown in Ubuyamamura using an organic farming method that involves the use of koi carp to control weeds in the paddy fields.
