THE PROCESS
1. Mashbill – Same as our Bottled in Bond.
• 56% corn, 30% rye, and 14% malted barley.
2. Sweet mash fermentation – How does this differ from traditional sour mash?
3. Two-step distillation
4. Barrel-aging & blending – Why is this NOT Bottled in Bond?

THE TASTE
• Rieger Straight Bourbon Whiskey is brimming with layers of flavor and complexity, showcasing aromas of candied citrus and baked bread. Rich flavors of orange marmalade, cracked pepper, and lightly toasted coconut are followed up by a long finish with hints of mild tobacco and a toffee-like sweetness.

QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE / TOP 10 NEED-TO-KNOWs
1. 100% Distilled, Aged, Blended and Bottled in Kansas City, MO - In taking the next step in building upon the J. Rieger legacy, this product is 100% locally made, with no sourced Whiskeys. 2. Sweet Mash Fermentation – Most people are familiar with “Sour Mash Whiskey” as that is a far more common and traditional fermentation method. Conversely, we use a process called sweet mash. Instead of using a backset to kickstart fermentation, we start with a clean slate, an empty tank. We add the water and the grain and begin our mash. Using this process has given us good control over the mashing and fermentation process, and we are finding it results in a high quality, uniquely-Rieger bourbon in the end. 3. Mashbill – This Bourbon utilizes the exact same mashbill as our Bottled In Bond Bourbon – 56% Corn, 30% Rye, 14% Malted Barley. 4. Two-step Distillation Process – We employ a proprietary 2-step process during distillation that utilizes both a 27 ft. column still for the first run, and then a second run through our original custom-designed 750 gallon Vendome pot still, where the heads and tails are cut. This method is unique in our industry, and while it is less efficient than traditional continuous distillation, it allows our team to extract the maximum amount of flavor and texture out of the final spirit. 5. Aging process – We only utilize only 53 gallon white American Oak barrels, with a level 3 char. Nothing that goes into this blend is less than 4 years old, while barrels are selected from lots ranging to up and over 5 years of age, and coming from multiple locations in our 2 warehouses to result in a rich and complex bourbon.

QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE / TOP 10 NEED-TO-KNOWs
6. Filtration and water – We use only a “non-chill filtered” bottling process, which ensures we are leaving everything in the whiskey that gives it its rich and creamy, full-bodied profile. Our water is as pure and clean as it gets, going through a multi-stage filtration and reverse osmosis process. 7. Dave Pickerell and Master Distiller Nathan Perry – While the legendary Dave Pickerell (Whistle Pig & Makers Mark) was a founding partner of our distillery and created the recipe for our Bourbon, our Master Distiller Nathan Perry tutored under Dave and oversees all of the day to day and production details. 8. Unrelenting focus on quality – Every last step and detail around our production method prioritizes quality, so that we may showcase how Kansas City can make a world class bourbon whiskey on par with the industry giants. 9. Cost per ounce – Regardless of our sometimes less efficient production methods that emphasize quality over quantity, we work hard to ensure that our price is reasonable and approachable for bars and cocktails. 10. Cocktails and recommended uses – Mixes great in shaken, stirred, or highball cocktails, or just as a shot with a cold beer!
…and this list goes to 11: It's freakin’ delicious!

DRINKS STRATEGY
PURPOSE:
Our ultimate goal is to create loyalty on the opposite side of the purchase funnel with our “signature serve” cocktails. The intention is to fulfill this with three main marketable points:
1. Awareness of our high-quality spirits, and their use in cocktails that may satisfy a consumer’s general needs. 2. Creating a desire to try the drink; whether crafting at home or at their favorite bar. 3. When our consumers are ready to buy, the cocktail’s name and ingredients should be approachable in flavor profile, easy to execute, and effortless to articulate.

Although obscure in its experience, the Boulevardier is a fail-safe classic for any bourbon lover.
