Calvados is a protected appellation that labels liqueurs produced from specific local apple varieties under strict rules. It is the first Calvados finished in American oak barrels, which created a lot of comments on release, for better or for worse, with a reaction against the ’strict’ approach of the AOC. 2,034 bottles. Coquerel Calvados XO 80PF / 700ML A soft, rich, and fruity Calvados made with spirit aged between eight and fifteen years in oak. For the first part of its maturation, Calvados Coquerel is rested in new oak barrels, before being transferred into smaller old barrels. PERE MAGLOIRE FRANCE Père Magloire Calvados is distilled from cider and protected by the Appellation Calvados Contrôlée. Its intense apple flavours have put it in a league of its own and brought it worldwide recognition. Père Magloire is part of French national heritage and is the oldest and best known of all the Calvados producers. Located in Pont l’Evêque in Normandy, in the heart of the Pays d’Auge. Pere Magloire Calvados VS 80PF / 750ML FINE V.S., created using several vintages, is the freshest and fruitiest of the collection. What sets FINE V.S. apart is the continuous distillation in copper stills. This concentrates the apple flavor which is further accentuated by aging them in century-old oak barrels. Pere Magloire Calvados VSOP 80PF / 750ML V.S.O.P. is notable because it is made only from cider of apples harvested in the Pays d’Auge, (6% of Normandy.)
