The original aromatic identity of Gran Bassano Bianco is due to a balanced infusion of over twenty botanicals, including hawthorn and elderflower, native plants from Bassano area, as well as grapefruit, galangal, myrtle, sweet and bitter orange. Vespaiolo grapes are the base for this vermouth. The grape features characteristic floral scents that attract the wasps (vespa), from which it is named. Poli Vermouth Rosso Gran Bassano 36PF / 750ML The unique aromatic structure of Gran Bassano Rosso is the result of a masterly infusion of over twenty botanicals, among which stand out the holy thistle and the yarrow moscata, native plants from Bassano area, as well as rhubarb, vanilla, pimento, ginger, and liquorice. Gran Bassano Rosso is a vermouth based on Merlot, red wine from French grape variety cultivated since the end of the 19th century in the DOC area of which the city of Bassano is part. P ADRO SPAIN Padro & Co Red Vermouth Reserva Especial 36PF / 750ML
MYRRHA SPAIN The fifth generation, currently in charge of the winery, are following the same philosophy as their ancestors and producing quality bulk and bottled wine, liqueur wines and vermouths and have taken care to make sure their company keeps up with the times as regards modern wine-making processes and technology (tangential filtration, continuous tartaric stabilization and so on…) at their bottling plant as well as extending the Padró family vineyards and implementing a new grape reception and wine storage facility. We wanted to make a vermouth using a sweet Tarragona Clásico-style liqueur wine aged for 5 years in 7,000-litre oak vats and which we have been using at the winery for generations. We add a small amount of this wine to the solera wine in the final vermouth coupage together, of course, with our special touch of vermouth herbs. Mouth: Warm and rich at the beginning, giving way to liquorice and medicinal herbs, encased in sweet notes, and a bitter tang. Padro & Co Red Vermouth Rojo Amargo 36PF / 750ML Our most charismatic vermouth is made using a double infusion of red vermouth and bitter herbs. Rojo Amargo starts with an initial infusion of mountain plants, with their small roots and highly aromatic flowers. The vermouth then rests for two years in chestnut barrels gently absorbing the aromas and, once the ageing process is complete, a second herb mixture is added consisting of a combination of plant bark and roots from the area around the winery, which give the vermouth even more character and its bitter tang. Mouth: Smooth and full-bodied palate with fresh sensations of orange, followed by a superbly bitter taste that is round, intense and reminiscent of tobacco, chinchona bark and honeyed caramel. Padro & Co Red Vermouth Rojo Clasico 36PF / 750ML Our Padró & Co. Rojo Clásico is a tribute to the vermouth which was sold originally from wine cellars or enjoyed religiously every Sunday at noon. We want to evoke those herby and slightly medicinal aromas which can transport you back, even now, to the atmosphere inside those local bars and cafés. The base wine is made with Macabeo and Xarel·lo grapes from the Padró family’s own vines. After the first winter, we add our special red vermouth herb formula to make a base coupage which we then leave to rest and evolve in barrels for between nine and twelve months. These barrels originally contained sherry, after which they were used for a time to transport wine and we have now adapted them for vermouth storage. Padro & Co White Vermouth Blanco Reserve 36PF / 750ML This vermouth was inspired by our desire to make a vermouth enhanced with the Mediterranean citrus aromas that are so intrinsic to the area around our winery. We blend an infusion of aromatic herbs with the peel of several different citrus fruits. After several months of maceration, we add an aged white mistela (sweet wine) that we keep especially for this vermouth. Mouth: An elegant, smooth, refined, and well-rounded palate with a slight sweetness, and also a certain bitterness. An elegant and citrus fruit finish ensures freshness and a superb aftertaste giving this vermouth a gourmet touch. Vermouth made from a unique infusion of aromatic herbs and aged in the barrel before bottling at our winery. Padro & Co White Vermouth Dorado Amargo 36PF / 750ML Our base wine for this vermouth is a well-structured Macabeo, perfect for the ageing process and the neutral character of this grape means that it does not interfere with the action of the exceptionally bitter herbs used. The vermouth rests for 9 months in semi-new chestnut barrels before bottling. Nose: A blend of wild and dry woodland herbs with a subtle mineral note.
Our Myrrha Blanco is made using natural infusions of aromatic plants added to a base of young white wine. Initial density on the palate with a pleasant sweetness followed by a sense of fresh zestiness. The aftertaste is elegant and very slightly tangy, tempting the taster to take another sip. Myrrha Blanco should be served very cold in a wide-rimmed glass with a twist of lemon and a mint leaf. Myrrha Rojo Vermut 30PF / 187ML / 1.0L Our Myrrha Rojo offers a special contrast of delicate sweetness with a distinctive and slightly tangy taste. A fusion of citrus fruits, nuts, oriental spices and mountain herbs is lovingly expressed in its aromas. In the mouth, initially warm and enveloping giving way to a blend of refreshing and elegant tanginess and a soft and velvety sweetness. Myrrha Rojo should be served very cold in a wide rimmed glass with perhaps a twist of orange.
Wormwood is the backbone botanical for vermouth . Even the name “vermouth” is derived from the “wermut” infused German wines that came before it. Cinchona bark is the source of quinine , which most people are used to as a flavor component in their tonic water. Aromatized wines with quinine are commonly known as quinquina or chinato. Gentian root or flower is most commonly seen in Americano style aromatized wines. It’s also used commonly in many aperitivo liqueurs.
Fortified Wine has had distilled spirit added to increase ABV and preserve it. Port, Sherry, and Madeira are the most common examples. Aromatized wine is fortified wine that has been infused with herbs and botanicals. Most aromatized wines have a prominent bitter element to balance their natural sweetness.
