I nglenook Winery is located in Rutherford, California, USA. The winery was founded in 1879 by a Finnish Sea Captain Gustave Niebaum. More than 1,500 acres (607 hectares) of the Inglenook property, of which 580 (234.7 hectares) were planted with vines, were acquired by Francis Ford Coppola in 1975 with profits from his film, The Godfather. Inglenook Winery has undergone several changes since 2010. In 2011, Francis Ford Coppola was able to purchase the trademark rights to the Inglenook name from the previous owner, The Wine Group. The same year Coppola hired Philippe Bascaules of Chateau Margaux to be the head winemaker at Inglenook.
