W elcome to the world of Dreyfus Ashby & Co. It is my distinct pleasure to share with you the tradition, history, and culture of our company. Dreyfus Ashby is 100% wholly owned by the Drouhin family of Burgundy and has had the privilege to represent some of the most famous and iconic brands ever to see the U.S. shores since it was established in New York City in 1946. You are holding in your hands our prestigious and hand selected portfolio. What do I mean when I say, “hand selected”? At Dreyfus Ashby & Co., we look at 3 basic principles that any producer must have to be included in the portfolio you see here. Authenticity , History , and a Sense of Place are the foun dations of what we believe makes a wine great. Our family producers, such as Maison Joseph Drouhin, Chateau Trotanoy, Comte Georges de Vogüé, Domaine de la Solitude, Distillerie Massenez, Champagne Drappier, Inglenook Estate and others, each have this wonderful combination of authenticity and history, which can only occur when fathers and sons, or mothers and daughters, work the same soil together that their ancestors worked and learn the same traditions and history that have been passed down generation to generation. When you have that generational history, you learn the lessons of your soil, and produce wines that tell the story of that terroir and its place on this earth. The passions of a 4th or 5th generation owner / winemaker is unmistakable and unequaled; one does not need to go looking for it. Passion for what is in the bottle can be tasted with every sip and in every vintage. There are precious few family-owned companies left in our industry, even less that can claim they have been around for more than 75 years, and certainly none with a better pedigree of brands and reputation as the one Dreyfus Ashby & Co. is fortunate enough to represent. I hope you agree.
We are grateful for your partnership and interest in our wines,
John Caruso President & CEO

FRANCE | Burgundy | Maison Joseph Drouhin
J oseph Drouhin founded the wine company in 1880 in Beaune, and it is still family-run four generations later by his great grandchildren, Philippe, Véronique, Laurent and Frédéric. Each of them holds key and complementary positions to sustain and expand the family business. With 100 hectares (248 acres), Domaine Joseph Drouhin is currently one of the largest estates in the region, with more than two thirds of the vineyards classified as Premier and Grand Crus. It is spread across the entire Burgundy wine region: Chablis, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise, and Mâconnais. The es tate comprises mainly Grand Crus and Premier Crus, planted with the two iconic Burgundian grape varieties: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. For certain appellations, Domaine Joseph Drouhin complements its supply by working with long-standing partner winemakers who share their exacting standards.

FRANCE | Chablis | Drouhin Vaudon
I n the sixties, when the Chablis vineyards were all abandoned, Robert Drouhin recognized the potential of this region which had been ravaged by phylloxera a century before. He was one of the first Burgundy owners who set about revitalizing the area. Robert bought the domaine in 1968 and named it after the Watermill on the Serein River “Moulin de Vaudon” which he acquired at the same time. The vineyard comprises 38 hectares (95 acres) in AOC Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru and Chablis Grand Cru. All vines have been under organic cultivation since 1990 and biodynam ic since 1999, the largest estate in Chablis under this kind of cultivation.

FRANCE | Burgundy | Comte Georges de Vogüé
M any domaines in Burgundy can trace their roots back over 100 years, but only a handful can claim more than 200 years of history. Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé can trace a line back over 550 years, to 1450 and the Chambolle vines of one Jean Moisson. Highly regarded as the greatest estate in Chambolle Musigny, today the domaine is headed by its 20th genera tion – Claire de Causans and Marie de Ladoucette, the granddaughters of the late Comte Georges de Vogüé. The estate is run by the prestigious team: Oenologist and winemaker Jean Lupatelli, vineyard manager Eric de Bourgogne and sales director Jean-Luc Pepin. The domaine owns 12.5ha (31 acres) of vineyards only in the commune of Chambolle Musigny: 7.2ha (17.79 acres)are in Musigny (70% of the Grand Cru), 2.7ha (6.7 acres) in Bonnes-Mares, 0.56ha (1.38 acres) in Chambolle Amoureuses, 0.27ha (.66 acres) in other Chambolle premiers crus, and 1.8ha (4.4 acres) in Chambolle Village. Comte Georges de Vogüé owns 2/3 of the Musigny and is the only producer to make white wine in this Climat, the only Grand Cru of the Cote de Nuits to allow white wine.

T he Drappier estate was established in 1808 in Urville, in the Aube region, and is current ly managed by 3 generations of the family. While André Drappier keeps a close eye over the vine yard, his 3 grandchildren Charline, Hugo and Antoine have joined Michel and his wife Sylvie to work the fam ily business.
The vineyard spans over 65 hectares (160.6 acres) of land owned by the estate, and 70 hectares (173 acres) in contractual arrangements, growing 65 hectares organical ly. The Pinot Noir represents 70% of the estate, supple mented by Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, and old grape varieties such as Fromenteau, Petit Meslier, Arbanne and Blanc Vrai. The family has stepped up its sustainable approach to viticulture, by growing 15 hectares (37 acres) organically, using horses for vineyard farming, and by getting the accreditation of “Carbon Neutral”.

FRANCE | Bordeaux | Château Laffitte Laujac
E stablished as a wine negociant in Bordeaux in 1819, the Cruse family quickly ranked as one of the leading wine companies in Bordeaux as attested by the visit of Napoleon III in 1851. Alongside his wine trading business, Hermann Cruse began a policy of acquiring wine estates by buying Chateau Laujac in 1852, rapidly fol lowed by the purchase of Chateau Pontet-Canet and Chateau Giscours. Due to the “phylloxera invasion” at the beginning of the 20th century, two World Wars and the terrible frosts of 1956, there were only 8 hect ares of vines remaining when Bernard Cruse took over the management of the estate in 1957. He undertook the revival of the vineyards, mod ernization of the technical tools and renovation of the buildings.

C hâteau T rotanoy POMEROL
P urchased by Jean-Pierre Moueix in 1953, Château Trotanoy has been considered one of the premier crus of Pomerol since the end of the eighteenth century. The soil of Château Trotanoy is a very dense mixture of clay and gravel which tends to solidify as it dries out after rain to an almost concrete-like hardness, hence the name “Trotanoy,” or, in other words, “too wearisome” to cultivate. The Trotanoy vineyard slopes gently to the west. The soil at the highest point of exposure contains a good pro portion of gravel, becoming progressively more dominated by clay as the elevation declines. Under this clay is a subsoil of red gravel and an impermeable layer of hard, iron-rich soil known as “crasse de fer.” This fascinating soil diversity brings power, depth and complexity to the wine. Trotanoy is vinified in small concrete vats, while aging takes place in oak barrels. Trotanoy is a naturally profound, complex, richly-concentrated wine with outstanding aging potential. The wine possesses a deep color and a dense, powerful nose, repeated on the palate with the addition of creamy, dark chocolate notes, and a singular concentra tion of flavor owed to its very old vines.

FRANCE | Bordeaux | Château Bélair-Monange
C hâteau Bélair-Monange traces its origins back to Roman times. Situated at the highest point of Saint-Émilion’s renowned limestone plateau, it has long been considered one of the region’s very best crus. In 1850 it was ranked by Cocks & Feret as the leading wine of Saint-Émilion, a position it held well into the twentieth century. Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix purchased the iconic property in 2008 and im mediately undertook extensive renovations of the vineyard, winery, underground quarries, and château in order to restore the cru to its earlier historic status. Originally known as Château Bélair, the property was renamed following the acquisition and merger with Chateau Magdelaine; in addition to its literal translation, ‘my angel,’ ‘Monange’ was the maiden name of Jean-Pierre Moueix’s mother, Anne-Adèle, the first Moueix woman to call Saint-Émilion her home. Château Bélair-Monange combines the terroirs of the most privileged sites of Saint-Émilion. The limestone from the central plateau parcels offers freshness, min erality, and delicate, lingering aromatics, while the dense, blue clay of the slopes provides intensity, length, and a unique elegance to the wine.

FRANCE | Bordeaux | Château Bélair-Monange Annonce de Belair-Monange Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
An important restructuring of the property was initiated in 2008 immediately following the ac quisition of the estate by Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix. Another wine embodying the inherent quali ties of the vineyard – minerality, concentration of red berries, balance and length – emerged in 2014: Annonce de Bélair-Monange. Produced in very limited quantities, Annonce enjoys the same attention as the Grand Vin: meticulous vineyard work undertaken with respect for the environment followed by a manual harvest once the grapes have reached optimal maturity. Vinification takes place in concrete and stainless-steel vats, where maceration and extraction are gentle and measured in order to allow the fruit its highest expression. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels.
Haut Roc Blanquant Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
Haut Roc Blanquant, the estate’s 3rd wine, is named after a historic parcel of the vineyard of Bélair-Monange. The name translates literally to “High White Rock,” underscoring the vine yard’s geology. Released in very limited quantities since the 2014 vintage, Haut Roc Blanquant is produced from a selection of grapes offering charm, elegance, and approachability from a young age. Supple, bright, and inviting, Haut Roc Blanquant channels the refinement of its privileged terroir coupled with an enticing, youthful, fruit-forward vibrancy.

FRANCE | Rhone | Domaine de la Solitude
L a Solitude belongs to one of the oldest families of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, whose roots go back to the 15th century. Today the Estate is managed by Florent Lançon, who represents the eighth generation and contin ues to uphold the family values. In the 17th century, Hélène BARBERINI, a descendant of the illustrious Tuscan family of the same name, affiliated to Pope Urbain VIII, married Claude MARTIN, owner of a vineyard in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Their grandson would give a huge boost to “La Solitude” by creating the first label for the Appellation. Thus, “le Vin de la Solitude” became a symbol of quality and began to be exported, allowing a great terroir to come into its own.

T he Campuget vineyard is located 15 kilometers south of Nimes in the town of Manduel in the heart of the Protected Designation of Origin Costières de Nîmes, in the Rhone Valley. The property goes back to 1753, as evidenced by an infeudation deed that shows that the vineyard was already large for the time. The Dalle family arrived from the northern part of France in 1942 after Franck-Lin’s grandfather got injured in WWII, and moved south on the advice of his doctors, who strongly recommended he spend some time in a drier climate. Since then, a single goal has driven the Dalle family: to produce Great Wines from the Rhône Valley while respecting their terroir. USA | Oregon | Domaine Drouhin Oregon
A s early as 1961, Robert Drouhin had a strong belief that he had a role to play in Oregon. In 1987, his dream came true: Domaine Drouhin Oregon (DDO) was born with the motto “French Soul, Oregon Soil.” Robert Drouhin, along with his daughter Véronique Drouhin, who had just graduated in oenology, decided to purchase land in the Dundee hills, in the Willamette Valley. In 1989, a four-level gravity-flow winery emerged from the ground on top of the hill. Located between 400’ and 800’ in elevation, the site was selected for its remarkable similarity in climate, latitude and aspect to the legendary vineyards of Burgundy. Domaine Drouhin now encompasses 130 acres (52.6 hectares) of hillside vineyards. Interspersed with the Pinot Noir vines are 13 acres (5.26 hectares) of Chardonnay, planted at various elevations, and certified sustainable by L.I.V.E. Every DDO vintage since 1988 has been handcrafted by Véronique Drouhin, who adapts the Burgundy family winemaking techniques.

Like the first vineyard, the estate is predominantly planted with Pinot Noir and a bit of Chardonnay. “What excites us is having two different terroirs, both of volcanic origin, with a slightly cooler microclimate at Roserock,” emphasizes the family. As a result, the wine style exhibits nuances: the wines from Dundee Hills are charming and silky, while those from Eola-Amity Hills are more structured and vibrant. “These nuances can be compared to the differences between Chambolle-Musigny and Gevrey-Chambertin in Burgundy.”

He’s also an experienced winemaker but that’s a bit hard to fit on a business card, so he’s content to be known as “The Better Half”.

South Africa | Stellenbosch | Tokara
E stablished in 1994 by GT Ferreira, Tokara Winery is nestled in the scenic Stellen bosch wine region of South Africa. Tokara is a family-owned vineyard and derives its name from the founders’ children, Thomas and Kara. The farm forms the wa tershed between two valleys on the foothills of the majestic Simonsberg. Tokara rests on the Stellenbosch side of the Banghoek Valley, between 350m and 550m above sea level. The combination of altitude, deep, rich, decomposed granite soils and the unique aspect of the property make for exciting variability between the vineyard sites. By interpreting the cues of the individual vineyard sites, each of the wines has its own unique story to tell. The winery specializes in Bordeaux-style red blends, along with noteworthy Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc wines. One of the cornerstone red varieties on the estate is Cabernet Sauvignon.

Switzerland | Neuchâtel | Château d’Auvernier
A wine history of more than 400 years. This estate which is located on the shores of the Lake of Neuchâtel, currently markets the produce of about 60 hectares (148 acres) of grapevines. Although the Auvernier Castle Cellars actually possess only 16 hectares (39.5 acres) of grapevines, they cultivate an additional 24 hectares (59.3 acres) and buy the har vest of 20 hectares (49.4 acres) more from vine growers with whom their ties, in some cases, go back several generations. The light to medium chalky soils, in places with barely 40 to 50 cm of topsoil overlaying the bedrock, can be very generous, providing the grapevine with two to three metres of undersoil. Geologically similar to the Burgundy soil, although situated a little further south, it benefits from the proximity of the lake, which regulates the temperatures, thereby offsetting the additional 100 metres or so in relation to its French counterpart.

Switzerland | Valais | Maison Gilliard
M aison Gilliard was founded in 1885 by Edmond Gilliard. He acquired the Clos du Mont and the Clos du Brûle-Fer located on the heights of the town of Sion. Thanks to our founder, they can pride ourselves on being one of the oldest cellars in Valais and are one of the best-known wine cellars in Switzerland. The Dôle des Monts, created in 1886, the Fendant Les Murettes, in 1921, as well as the leg endary Porte de Novembre in 1960 are among the emblematic brands which illustrate the reputation of the House.
Switzerland | Vaud | Henri Badoux
I t all started more than 100 years ago with Chasselas l’Aigle les Murailles. The famous Aigle wine takes its name from Clos des Murailles , whose parchets were purchased in 1908 by Henri Badoux. The vineyard was later renamed Les Murailles d’Aigle, where the Chasselas grape variety benefits from a terroir with ideal conditions: dry, schistose soil and a mild, sunny climate. It was the famous painter Frédéric Rouge , born in Aigle in 1867, who created the legendary label of Aigle les Murailles in 1919. This made the green lizard , inhabitant of the Chablais vineyard, the emblem of this white wine. Already an eye-catcher on the label, the green lizard has remained the symbol of our wine. In German-speaking Switzerland, it even gave it its name: this very popular wine is often referred to simply as “lizard wine”.

Israel | Judean Hills | Sphera
S phera was founded in 2012 by Doron Rav Hon in Israel, in the Judean Hills. Doron Rav Hon studied wine making in Burgundy, trained at Domaine Jacques Prieur, and worked in Champagne. Inspired by his travels and experiences in Europe, he decided to specialize in white wines, particularly those made from the local grape varieties of Israel, such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Semillon. The winery’s name, “Sphera,” is derived from the Greek word for “sphere,” representing the holistic approach they take in their winemaking process. Sphera embraces minimal intervention to allow wines to express their unique terroir. They are also known for their use of extended skin contact and fermentation in clay vessels known as am phorae, which contribute to the distinct character of their wines. Vineyards were planted along the wadis of Givat Yeshayahu. The climate is dry and the temperature amplitude is excellent.

France | Cognac | Cognac Prunier
T he first traces of the Prunier family date back to 1701, but it was not until 1769 that the bottling and export activities would have really started at Cognac, as evidenced by the old Prunier bottle labels. Today, 250 years later, Stéphane Burnez (5th generation) and his daughters (Alice and Claire) descendants of the Prunier family are in charge. The house buys the eaux de-vie directly from supplying vine growers and distillers each year, then carries out the aging process in their own cellars. Prunier Cognac excels at producing vintage year co gnacs. It is only practiced by very few producers. Vin tage cognacs are still a rarity in the world of Cognac. They are products created from a single year’s harvest, and usually from a single vineyard. There is no blending allowed like in XO or VSOP. It is sometimes referred to as a Millesime Cognac. All of their vintage cognacs are guaranteed to be free from any coloring, sugar, or wood extracts, and they have not been chill-filtered or reduced from their natural cask strength. The Prunier family is proud to own one of the largest “Paradises” in Cognac with hundreds of demi-Jeanne dating back to the year 1900.
