The distillate was aged 15 years in a dry, earthen-floor aging room where a delightful faint sweetness was achieved by aging nearly all in American white oak, with only 3% laid into French oak. 75% of the white oak casks previously held Bourbon and the remaining 25% were California red wine casks and one Chardonnay cask. Fuenteseca Reserva Añejo 18YO 88PF / 750ML Distilled in 1995 using a blend of copper column (75%) and alembic (25%) stills, this expression began with six years of high-altitude aging in white oak rye casks. The tequila was then split between rye and red wine barrels for an additional 12 years of aging in a cool, coastal climate. Fuenteseca Reserva Añejo 21YO 88.6PF / 750ML A rare 21-year expression distilled in 1993 and barreled in 1994. This spirit underwent a two-stage aging process, moving from the dry lowlands to the cool highland slopes above Atotonilco.
