Bodegas Borsao DO Campo de Borja, Spain

Bodegas Borsao is located in the D.O. of Campo de Borja in the Aragon Province of Northern Spain. Borsao originated as a brand in 1958 when the cooperative of Borja was founded. In 2001, the cooperatives Ponzuelo and Tabuenca joined Borja, and Bodegas Borsao S.A. was established, bringing reform and a new sense of prestige to the winemaking practices of the group. The mission of Bodegas Borsao is to establish their wines as the benchmark for premium Garnacha wines around the world. Bodegas Borsao Berola This blend of 70% Garnacha, 20% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, shows the finesse of the Borsao line. Crafted from selected small parcel fruit, from the Tabuenca, Borja, and Pozuelo oldest vineyards. Intense cherry red color. Remarkable aromatic complexity with notes of black fruit, light balsamic and toasted touches that remind of BBQ and a vanilla chocolate cake. Cherry cola, lavender, bright red and black preserves in the mouth, full bodied with rich complexity. 2014 : 90 JS, 90 WS | 2013 : 91 V, 90 WA Bodegas Borsao Garnacha This wine shows all the varietal character of the Garnacha from Campo de Borja. Sourced from small parcels in the Tabuenca, Borja, and Pozuelo vineyards, it expresses the essence of Borsao. With a deep ruby color, this wine has a big sweet kiss of licorice, kirsch liqueur and darker currants, cherry red with violet nuances. Has a ripe fruit nose with floral tones. It is medium-bodied, refreshing, exuberant and fruity, pure and lusty spiciness and with a complex and long aftertaste. 2016 : 88 JS | 2015 : 90 V Bodegas Borsao Macabeo Chardonnay This wine expresses the bright freshness Campo de Borja can produce. Bodegas Borsao has crafted an elegant white that certainly preserves the vibrant youthful characteristics of the fruit. This wine has bright notes of lime and pineapple in the attack with just a hint of light grapefruit in the mid pallet combine for an elegant finish. The 3 months of French oak- barrel-aging adds a bright vanilla flavor and gives the wine the perfect balance of richness combining acidity. 2016 : 88 JS Bodegas Borsao Rose This crisp and lush Rosé from the Campo de Borja DO in northeastern Spain is 100% Garnacha. Like its red and white companions, this rosé is fermented in stainless steel and sees no oak aging, preserving the vibrantly youthful characteristics of the fruit. It has a red luminescent color with warm glows of copper salmon. Has a strong aroma of berries and white flowers. Very young and fresh in the mouth, well balanced with its acidity, rich in floral nuances and spices. Hints of tangerine and Asian pear permeate this vintage. 2016 : 87 JS
