ARGIOLAS | Sardegna
Table 22
“Is Solinas” Carignano del Sulcis Doc Riserva Is Solina is a small municipality within Sulcis, a coastal area in the southwest of Sardegna. Here, baking summers, mild winters, and constant ventilation create the type of environment that push the Carignano variety to its best. Is Solinas Carignano del Sulcis Riserva undergoes fermentation in stainless steel followed by malolactic conversion in cement. This concentrated wine from old vines is given the chance to develop over 12 months in barrique, after which an additional 6 months in bottle allow the wine to settle and reach equilibrium. Powerful, complex, and supple, Is Solinas reflect its dramatic place of origin. Brooding aromas of baked cherry and blackberry are matched by toast, vanilla, spice and cedar. A long and harmonious finish confirms the wine’s Mediterranean heritage with lingering notes of Macchia Mediterranea—the Sardinian equivalent of the French aroma descriptor, Garrigue.

“Korem” Isola dei Nuraghi IGT Korem is a blend of Bovale Sardo, Carignano, and Cannonau, three red grapes with origins in Spain that typify Sardinian viticulture. The wine is a more elegant counterpart to Turriga thanks to the aromatic Bovale Sardo. The label is that of an Ancient Greek coin found in the vineyards of the Argiolas property.
