BOLGHERI ROSSODOC A blend of 60%Cabernet, 20%Cabernet Franc, 20%Merlot, and 10% Sangiovese. Sourced from vineyards at 330 and 660 ft. where the soil is comprised of calcareous sandstone and marl. The climate is typically temperate Mediterranean with frequent sea breezes. Harvesting is done exclusively by hand. Vinification begins with open must fermentation in barrels, then the wine matures for ten months in 2 – 3-year-old barriques, finished by 6 months of bottle aging before release.

L’ALBERELLO BOLGHERI ROSSO SUPERIORE DOC L’Alberello (head-pruned) is the way the vineyards are trained. It is the first head trained vineyard in the Bolgheri area. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot are harvested together on the same day, creating a blend that spontaneously ferments in small oak truncated cone vats with manual punching down and long maceration with indigenous yeast. This wine was aged for 16months in barriques.

BOLGHERI ROSSO SUPERIORE DOC Grattamacco’s Bolgheri Rosso Superiore is iconic inBolgheri, Italy, and beyond. The flagship wine of the estate, this was the second important wine to come from the Bolgheri area following Sassicaia. The wine is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20%Merlot, and 15% Sangiovese. The spontaneous fermentation takes place in open truncated cone-shaped oak vats with frequent and gentle manual punching with indigenous yeast, allowing long macerations and slow release of only fully ripe and noble tannins. This winewas aged for 21 months in French oak barrels.
