Laus Vitae

Laus Vitae represents the top of the quality pyramid for Codice Citra. Sourced from vines that average 40 years in age, and which grow at over 900 feet above sea level, the production of Laus Vitae is highly limited. Winemaking for Laus Vitae is overseen by world-renowned consultant, Riccardo Cotarella, and is about passion, attention to detail, and most importantly superior quality fruit. Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOP Riserva Grapes are hand-selected and hand-harvested. After a soft pressing, a long maceration of the skins ensues at a controlled temperature. First refined in stainless steel vats and later in large, Slavonian oak botti, Laus Vitae is then transferred to small, French Barriques where it achieves its full character. The wine is inky purple with rich, ripe tannins that frame layers of flavor. Primary aromas of mulberry, violets, and stewed cherry join with cocoa powder, leather, black pepper, and clove. The layers continue to unfold throughout a long and very well-balanced finish.
