Santa Maria al Monte was originally developed by Franciscan monks in Genoa. In 1892, Nicola Vignale commercialized the production, and its popularity has continued in Italy to this day. This amaro is aged in oak for a year prior to bottling.

Santa Maria al Monte, Amaro  First created by the monks of the Santa Maria monastery near Florence. In the last half of the 18th century, the monks donated the recipe to the Duke of Aosta as a show of loyalty. No artificial or caramel coloring, 100% natural and made by hand. Bitter, full-bodied and earthy. Very dry finish. (Liter)
